If you have ever felt bombarded or overwhelmed with information when you open your web browser, then there is something you can do about it. The solution to the problem lies within Really Simple Syndication, also known as RSS.

What is RSS and What are its Benefits?

The basic idea behind RSS is to provide an easy alternative to search and gather display information from numerous sources including the following:

  • News Stories
  • Updates to Websites
  • Business and Stock Statistics
  • New Posts to Blogs

RSS is a device that ultimately saves time by allowing you to subscribe to RSS feeds for particular websites. Once you have subscribed to an RSS feed for a site the new articles will be sent to you once they are available.

  • Works well with emails
  • Helps manage and organize content
  • Maintains privacy and anonymity

Getting Started

  1. Get a feed reader, which is one of two types: 
    a. Application-based 
    b. Web-based
  2. Visit your favorite website(s) and subscribe to it's feeds. If the website has an RSS feed, you will usually find a small orange RSS icon on the homepage to click to subscribe.
  3. Read and manage the information delivered to you.
